Khyenpa
A public register of singular things — paintings, buildings, ships, software, typefaces, instruments, recipes. Anyone can add an entry; the person who made the thing can claim it. Registered once. Kept forever.
01 · The problem
Things deserve a permanent address.
Most records of made things live in someone else's database and vanish when it does. Khyenpa gives each singular thing a canonical ID — KH-001121 and so on — that is never reissued and never points at anything else. Permanence is the product.

03 · How it works
Three states, one ID.
- Every entry is Unclaimed, Community, or Claimed. The state describes the submitter's relationship to the thing, not the thing's category.
- Ranking is reader-driven: Rising (velocity per day), Most viewed, and Entry of the Week / Month / Year. No feed algorithm.
- Around fifty categories; more than ten thousand entries seeded so the register is worth browsing on day one.
- Media lives on its own CDN at
media.khyenpa.com.
04 · Decisions and tradeoffs
What was rejected, and why.
- Permanent IDs over pretty URLs. A slug can be renamed; a canonical ID cannot. The URL is for people; the ID is for the record.
- Reader ranking over an algorithm. An algorithm optimises for attention. A register should optimise for being right, and readers are better at that than a model of readers.
- Seed richly. People decide how much effort their own entry deserves by looking at what is already there. Thin seeds teach thin contributions.
